These Three Nissan Models Were Just Named Top Cars For Teen Drivers

Are you the parents of a teenager and happen to be in the process of searching for a safe and reliable car for them this summer? Look no further than the Nissan Altima, Murano, and Rogue, all three of which were recommended by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). For the class of 2021, IIHS updated its annual list of “affordable, safe, and reliable vehicles for teens.” The list includes both new and pre-owned vehicles.

Recommended New Vehicles for Teens (2021)

• 2021 Nissan Altima
• 2021 Nissan Murano

Only 2021 vehicles that come with vehicle-to-vehicle automatic emergency braking as standard are included in the recommendations. In fact, both the Altima and Rogue were recently awarded the Top Safety Pick + from IIHS.

Recommended Used Vehicles for Teens Starting Under $20,000

• Pre-Owned Nissan Rogue – 2014-2020 model years (“Best Choice”)
• Pre-Owned Nissan Murano – 2015-2020 model years (“Best Choice”)

In order to be considered on the pre-owned list, vehicles has to earn good ratings in the IIHS moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests. “Best Choice” goes to vehicles that have received a “Good” or “Acceptable” rating in the IIHS driver-side overlap front test.
